Well, yesterday was definitely one of the craziest days of
our lives! We would prefer not to focus
on all the chaos, but suffice it to say, we’ve come through a whole lot of
trouble.
Our airline overbooked our flight, and they attempted to
bump one of the youth plus all of the leaders from travelling to
Guatemala! Can you imagine the stress
placed on our group? Ultimately, there
was no way we were going to make this trip happen without splitting up and
hoping the airline would honour their promise to get the remaining 4 group
members off to Guatemala to meet the 6 who flew out first. Today, praise God, we were united, and we are
so very VERY happy to be a complete mission team once again.
Our hosts, missionaries Hector and Ruth Aragon, have been
tremendously supportive. Ruth has
prepared wonderful meals for us, while Hector has been responsible to give us
our city tours, orientation, and has also prepared our schedules for ministry. They have been a blessing, in every way and we
are super thankful for their hospitality!
This morning, before meeting up with the rest of our team,
we were able to join another pastoral couple to assist in ministry to a group
of young children. Our group did our
presentation for them, and they, in turn, shared their presentation with
us. It was beautiful to see all of these
little children worshipping Jesus with open hearts and faces set aglow with
hope, wonder, and joy!
We are now preparing ministry supplies for the next few days
before we settle in to another evening with a delicious meal and fellowship to
follow. We have been through a great ordeal with missing baggage, misdirected flights, and such. The stress has been insurmountable. As a result, we are weary…. But we are trusting God to provide us with the strength we need to do what we came to do, and to do it well. We are here to share the GOOD NEWS, and that begins with what Jesus has done in us.
The enemy has a plan to throw us off focus, but we know God has bigger things in store, and we also know that He who has called us is forever faithful.
This is only the beginning, and we still have much work to do. Tomorrow we will have a brand new day to yield ourselves all over again and to be used of God to reach the lost, to encourage the broken hearted, and to strengthen hearts for His glory.
We have confidence that while we are His service here, we will move ahead even stronger than we ever thought possible. Forgetting what lies behind, and straining forward to what lies ahead – Philippians 3:14b J
Sincerely,
Legit Youth Guatemala Missions Team
